Pastoral Care
At Castle School we fully recognise the need to support our pupils pastorally as well as academically.
In this modern world young people are increasingly faced with complex emotional issues that can create concern and anxiety. At Castle School we fully recognise the need to support our pupils pastorally as well as academically.

On staff we have a pastoral lead who’s aim is to know all our pupils and work with other staff to ensure emotional health is supported and pupils have assistance in accessing any advice and help they might require.
​
We also have a trained Counsellor who, working closely with our pastoral lead, offers a further ear to listen to issues faced by our young people.
Having these key people on staff helps to provide the safe and secure environment that supports our learners to thrive and grow.
Pastoral Lead
Becca Ward our Head of Humanities is also our PSHE teacher and knows all our senior school pupils through these lessons.
Becca’s experience of the many and varied issues faced by young people (gained whilst working in a large school mentoring team) means she is well placed to support our children.
Senior school pupils all know where to contact her to talk over a problem and share a concern.
Becca Ward works closely with Julie Thorne in our prep to ensure any concerns our younger children have are dealt with appropriately, effectively, quickly and professionally.
School Counsellor
Suzie can be found all over the school raising awareness of looking after ourselves both physically and mentally.
She offers calm counsel to one and all and will always find time to respond to any concern that comes to her.
Suzie is a qualified and highly experienced Counsellor having previously worked for Pembrokeshire Counselling Services as well as in private practice with adults and children.
